The New Generation

Seeing some of the biggest names in hip-hop getting older (i.e Jay-Z, Snoop, Ice Cube) there is some fresh new blood making a name for themselves.  Most of them have been around for a a few years but are now making the transition from underground to mainstream.

The four artist I'm going to take a view at today have spent years on the mixtape circuit and all of them either have or had a record deal. Will these artist be the next mogul in the game? Or will they flop and never make their mark in the history books? Take a listen at some of their best work so far and judge for yourselves and feel free to comment.

Wiz Khalifia - He has been around for a while and has even released two albums under the Warner Brothers label but he is just now to really make a big break into the mainstream. Take a listen to his new mixtape: Kush and Orange Juice http://www.sendspace.com/file/ppixyd

Wale - The DC native has recently released his first album Attention Deficit with Interscope Records, which marks the first time a hop hop artist to release a album with a major label from this region. Here's one of his mixtapes: Mixtape About Nothing http://www.megaupload.com/?d=m7u1rqgy

B.o.B - This guy has been feature among other freshman, Kid Cudi, Aster Roth and Wale in XXL's 2009 list and is now releasing his debut, B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray, on April 27th. He has scored a hit with the track Nothin' On You with Bruno Mars which bodes well for his debut. Listen that and some of his other hits in the May 25th mixtape: http://www.mediafire.com/?jwge2gimyy0

Charles Hamilton - Back in early 2009 things were looking as if he was about blow up and becoming one of the best new artist of the year but following dispute with his label, Interscope, he was dropped and his debut album The Perfect Life, shelved he faded from the limelight. He's back and is working on releasing a new album later this year. Let's see what happens. in the meantime take a listen to his 2008 mixtape, The Pink Lavalamp, to see some of his best work: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PO2VP777

What's in a Motto

Today I bring you some more good music.  This new track comes a local ATLien, Rico Suave.  Please don't sleep on this man...he's not your average rapper.  Whatever he raps about comes from the heart and sould of this man so you only get real life experiences.

Here's a quote from Rico himself:

This particular song is about me expressing my desire to keep my integrity in everything I do especially with my music. It also, expresses my disgust of people who do music without a passion for it but rather a passion for money. I lay down a personal motto in which I live by expressed in the last line of the chorus 'Yall can limbo under the bar and Ima hugh jump'. That line alone means I will go above the standards and not under as means to JUST get by. Also, to ensue this I surround myself who live by the same creed.

This song is off his upcoming project entitled  "The Standard" which become available on the first day of the New Year, 1/1/2010.  The mixtape is being fully produced by 4 Front, another local production group, and will be ready for you listening pleasure on http://www.ricosuaveatl.com/

Want more? Go to www.ricosuave.com to listen to all his past and future releases and also follow him on twitter www.twitter.com/ricosuave and on Facebook. Every Saturday he drops a new track for you, so be sure to look out for them

It's Simple As That....

Well it's here people, the MLB World Series 2009. Why they still call it he World Series when it's only played with American (and sometimes Canadian) teams, I don't know, that's America for you.  Anyway this years edition features the city of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia Philles and the team that you either love to death or just just death upon them, the New York Yankees.

As a friend of mines pointed out (http://bmillz365.wordpress.com/) these are two of the best, if not the best, teams in baseball. Rightfully so, both have outstanding offenses, good pitching and defenses and know what it takes to win. The Yankees led the league in come from behind wins and A-Rod is puttinng on his best Mr. October impression. The Philles just have been whooping the pie filling out of everybody. People say it's going to be a good World Series with two high level teams and it's hard to pick a winner. Well it's not. The Philles are going to win and the Yankees suck. As Kid Cudi would say.."It's simple as that, it's simple as that for your simple ass" And here's my reasons:

Phillies have a better offense with is still surprisingly underrated. 1-6 the Phillies are better than the Yankees. J-Roll, Utley, Howard, The Hawaiian, Werth and Ibanez > Jeter, Damon, Teixeria, A-Rod, Matsui, Posada

Phillies O> Yankees O

Now the Yankkes have the better starting pitching. CC, AJ, AP> Lee, Pedro, Hamels.  Game 1 will be a good matchup. The last two Cy young winners and former teammates going head to head so the offenses will have to step it up. Phillies win. Then Pedro and AJ. I'm still not sold on Pedro even after the LA performance.  He hasn't faced a offense like the Yankees this season. Yankees win game two. Then you have Cole and Andy. Sounds like a sitcom. Hamels is not the Hamels of last year (I didn't like him last year either but he wa  better) and Pettitte  knows how to win. Now this is where things get interesting. The Bullpen.

The Phillies still have the better bullpen even with Lidge due to the fact the Phills have the better defense behind their pitchers.  And Lidge is looking more like the Lidge of last year this postseason so far. Yes the Yanks have the best closer in history but they don't truth their two young stunnas in Joba and Phil Hughes. In my book that's a problem.

So With the better offense and defense the Phillies win another World Series over the Yankees superior pitching. It's simple as that for your simple ass.

Going Swifty West.....Then South

Well it's another week in the books.  People are still being ignorant about healthcare. Goodie Mob had a reunion. Kayne brought the racism out in people again. Jay-Z somehow got a number one album and beat out Elvis while a lot of people didn't even know Kid Cudi came out with an album. And I'm one week closer to getting a new car.
First let's get the old out of the way.  As many of you witnessed, Kayne West ran on stage at the VMA's during Taylor Swift's first Moon Man and rudely interrupted her, almost the girl want to cry. Now should have Kayne done that? No. Could he have waited and said something later? Yes. Should Taylor Swift won the award? Probably not. Should she have at least said thank you to Beyonce? Yes.  But while the outburst itself wasn't really that big in itself, the aftershock of it was probably as big as the Indian Ocean tsunami. Pink called him the biggest piece of shit ever. Donald Trump is on a boycott. Joe Jackson is calling for a blackball.  Twitter went livid with racism, with people (mainly light colored) calling him nigger this and nigger that. It just goes to show why Obama is having such a hard time try to make a change, which leads me to this.
Obama is our President. The people of America OVERWHELMINGLY wanted him to lead them out of the hell hole the Republicans put us in.  Now the same people who put in office are now wanting his head because it seems like he's not doing what he said he was going to do.  Really? He put us in a deeper recession? He raised the national debt more than other President? He's trying have the government run peoples lives? The guy has only been in office for EIGHT months and trying to do a overhaul of the American government. What did people expect? A quick fix to one the deepest economic slowdowns since the Great Depression and everything is going to be all HONKEY dorery? HaHaHaHaHa people are getting dumber and dumber every minute.
Then the there is the infamous Shawn Carter has put out another number 1 album, this entitled the "Blueprint 3" The album itself wasn't really all that, maybe 3-4 good songs out of 15, but if you laid out a blueprint and it was the best one, why go back and try to revise it 2 more times?  Then poor old Kid Cudi, is only projected to sale 120,000.  While that's good, especially in today's world, he still not getting as much respect as he may deserved due the phenomenon called Drake.
Lastly I end it with one of the best hip hop groups of all time, Goodie Mob.  They a reunion concert this past weekend in Atlanta, which sadly I wasn't able to attend. so I leave you with a couple of classics, a newcomer, and a number 1.
